It is inspired greatly by Marx's theoretical formulation of the relationship between economic base and ideological superstructure and focuses on how power and domination operate. Whilst I’ve found the chapter on structuralist criticism to be dry and tedious (which is why I could not give this book five stars), I would conclude that Literary Theory Today is a highly engaging read and I would recommend this book to anyone who are interested in exploring and understanding literary theory.
